Today’s post is a review of the wonderful Julia Donaldson’s Room on the Broom by Isla and Bria.
Room on the Broom is a story of a witch and her cat, having a lovely trip out on the flying broom, until a wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow and wand! They are all retrieved by a dog, a bird and a frog but in return, they demand a ride on the broom! They all climb on, but when the broom breaks, they tumble into a bog and meet a greedy dragon. . . .
Isla (age 4) and Bria (age 2) are huge book fans and they love Julia Donaldson. Room on the Broom is one of their favourites. They both shout and whoosh at the end of every page and they even have a special place to read their books. . . . in a tent! A reading den (or tent!) is a brilliant way to make reading feel special and might be the key to tempt even reluctant readers into opening a book. What a lovely way to read stories with grown ups!
Here are Isla and Bria reading in their special reading spot
Isla says “I love the witches plait and I love the dog. It’s really funny when they all stand on each other in the mud but my favourite is when the frog gets a shower”.
Bria says “I love it! I like the dragon but I don’t like the dragon”. What a complex character the greedy dragon must be! Well worth a read, we think!
Thank you to Bria and Isla (and their mummy!) for reviewing Room on the Broom for us. If your little one has a book they want to share, please contact us at beebopsbooksblog@outlook.com, our Facebook or Twitter.
