It’s been a busy few days for Beebop and I. We’ve recently discovered our local library read and rhyme sessions, where the children all sit down to listen to a story and sing some rhymes. Beebop’s favourite is marching round the library to “The Grand Old Duke of York” with an instrument of some kind which invariably, she refuses to give back! The librarians who run them are all so enthusiastic and lovely, the children all really enjoy it and it’s perfect for babies, toddlers and preschoolers alike! Our libraries are an invaluable resource and integral to encouraging children to read and with so many councils choosing to shut them down to save money, if we don’t use them, we lose them. A future without libraries would be detrimental to children’s literacy and the community as a whole!
We went to the library this morning to pick up Barnaby from his liBEARy sleepover (post to follow soon!) and got some more books to read, all daddy Beebop’s choices this week!
Also, we are now on Facebook! Our address is Beebopsbooks Blog, please give us a like and a share to show your friends! Do your libraries have any read and rhyme type groups? We’d love to hear all about them!
